The Rise of Yellow

When ‘Yellow’ released in 2000, the world finally believed that there was a rock band that could pave the way for future generations to realize that it was not just Pink Floyd that dominated and mastered the realm of rock. Helmed by Chris Martin, as well as other band members like Guy Berryman, Will Champion and Jonny Buckland, this band has created a global sensation.

It was in the year 2000 that their debut album ‘Parachutes’ had released, and the band has never looked back ever since then. The most popular tracks of this album included ‘Don’t Panic’, ‘Parachutes’, ‘Trouble’, ‘Sparks’ and ‘Shiver’. While there was no doubt about the mass popularity of this album, the critical response was a mixed one. Finally in 2002, came the magic album ‘Rush of Blood to the Head’, and thereon it was evident that Coldplay was not just here to stay, but to rule the genre of rock music in times to come.

The amount of mass adulation as well as positive critical response to this album was almost overwhelming. This kick-started a series of albums, each one more brilliant than the other, the next one being ‘Viva la Vida or Death and all his friends’, which had several quirky and soul-searching numbers. Together, the team rocked the 51st Grammy Awards, winning several prestigious awards in a row!
